Following today’s terror attack in London, footage showing the city’s mayor Sadiq Khan describing moderate Muslims as “Uncle Toms” is making the rounds.
The footage – taken from a 2009 interview – is just one of the many pieces of media concerning Khan making their way around the web in light of today’s attack, which was allegedly carried out by a radical UK-based Muslim.
The clip in question shows Khan – a government minister at the time – speaking with Iranian-backed Press TV about the government working alongside moderate, high-class Muslims.
“I’ve spent the last months in this job speaking to all sorts of people,” he says in the clip. “Not just leaders, not just organizations but ordinary rank and file citizens of Muslim faith and that’s what good government is about. It’s about engaging with all stakeholders.”
“You can’t just speak to Uncle Toms.”
Khan drew the ire of numerous people when the clip surfaced in 2016 as he was running for Mayor of London.
According to The Daily Mail, he ultimately apologized (sorta) for the comment, insisting he was only “trying to encourage everyone to get involved in government consultations.”
Khan still has yet to live the statement down with many people, and that’s quite evident on social media following today’s terror attack that has left at least three people dead.
@TEN_GOP Never could figure out HOW this guy got elected..Where is the citizens concern and uproar? BBC is like oatmeal.

Also making the rounds today is an article in which Khan is quoted as saying terror attacks are “part and parcel” of living in a major city.
You have to be kidding me?!: Terror attacks are part of living in big city, says London Mayor Sadiq Khan https://t.co/uSm2pwRTjO

Will London's Muslim mayor, @SadiqKhan, once again say that Muslim terror attacks are just "part and parcel" of living in a major city?
