Report: Muslim Olympian’s Airport Holdup Happened Under Obama

In another stunning case of fake news, a whole host of  blue checkmarks and ‘activists’ shared a story regarding Muslim U.S. Olympian Ibtihaj Muhammad being ‘detained after the ‘Muslim Ban’

According to Washington Examiner, Ibtihaj Muhammad made remarks on February 7th implying she was affected by Trump’s travel ban.

Muhammad, a lifelong American citizen, claimed in an interview last week that she was detained “just a few weeks ago” by U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents. She said she was held for two hours without explanation.

In a hilarious twist of irony, a day after liberal tears were flowing over the poor Muslim Olympian that Trump detained at the airport, Ibithaj Muhammad admits the event occurred in December. In December 2016… before Donald J. Trump even took office.

Regardless of the facts, this is what Ibithaj Muhammad said in an interview with Popsugar:

POPSUGAR: Do you know anyone who was directly impacted by Trump’s travel ban?

Ibtihaj Muhammad: Well, I personally was held at Customs for two hours just a few weeks ago. I don’t know why. I can’t tell you why it happened to me, but I know that I’m Muslim. I have an Arabic name. And even though I represent Team USA and I have that Olympic hardware, it doesn’t change how you look and how people perceive you. Unfortunately, I know that people talk about this having a lot to do with these seven countries in particular, but I think the net is cast a little bit wider than we know. And I’m included in that as a Muslim woman who wears a hijab.

The legitimacy of the story gets even worse, as Washington Examiner learned by speaking to a customs official they say has “direct knowledge” of the incident.

“She wasn’t targeted. The checks are totally random; random checks that we all might be subject to.”

Muhammad was also not held for two hours, he said, adding that the entire ordeal wrapped up in under an hour.

Here is the tweet from Ibithaj Muhammad:

Here is the ridiculous virtue signaling from the sea of blue checkmarks and leftist activists just a day earlier…

No apologies from the freaks on the Left. None of them in those tweets up there will look at this and think “Maybe I’m being lied to about everything”, no they will disregard it and still bring it up in a debate, and when you call them out on it they’ll change their argument, switch topics, ignore it or just stop talking.

When you discriminate based on color, race, sex, religion and sexual preference then you are a racist, have the balls to call it what it is and your boy Milo is def racist which is fucking hilarious as most of you racists usually call someone like him a fag or other names.

No, you are incorrect. Discrimination based on color or country of origin is racism. (that is what a race is) sex, religion or sexual preference falls under discrimination, but not racism. Blacks, whites, Asians, Hispanics all have homosexuals, heterosexuals and a variety of religious beliefs & religious sects… but it’s not racist, it’s preference. A race is not a preference.

I understand. I am not challenging the legitimacy of the issue reported, aka this being a fake news propaganda from the lefties. What I would still like to know, from the author would be nice, but I’m not holding my breath, is the quote from the airport official. No need to react as the lefties. We should hold our standards. I am not saying the quotes are lies, I am asking for a source. He say, they say. I wouldn’t want to remain redfaced in the future if somebody were to show me sources disproving the legitimacy of what I am saying, quoting.
Again, no need to post saying it happened in December, I undestand. It is fake news, it is propaganda. That is not what I am asking for.

respectfully…you feel the way you do about islam because of what they represent to you. it wasn’t long ago that the same thing was felt about communists, ala the red scare. It wasn’t long ago that japanese-american citizens were made less american simply by the belief that they were guilty by association. Knowing that i wasn’t born in the states, and how many times historically the USA has segmented american’s based on where they come from or what they believe in, I absolutely take issue with blanket statements about any people if there happen to be american’s from that very group of people. it was wrong when we did it to people we believed were “communists”, it was wrong when we did it to the “Japs”, and still wrong now when some among us would do the same to people that believe in allah over god and jesus christ

And you fail to state how many other countries, perhaps your birth place, segments & oppresses their own citizens. Don’t act as if the same doesn’t happen in every country all over the world. National security & laws are first and foremost for our citizens, not how it makes you feel. Ask a child how they feel about homework, eating dinner or going to bed, it doesn’t matter when you are the one in charge of caring for them. Take your medicine, no matter how you like it… you’ll be better in the long run. By the way, there were numerous Japanese “Americans” spying for Japan in WWII. There was a basis for the governments actions & many Japanese accepted it with begrudging respect, while others joined the fight against their countrymen. The rest of “white America” turned on their country of origin, fighting Italians & Germans or they returned and fought for them.

It’s called repatriation to country of origin, they have no choice in the matter. The counter to their no, is the U.S. pulling the plug on their visas… that’s way more important to their pockets. By the by, how many Muslim countries are accepting refugees? They don’t want to take care of their own “brothers & sisters” in Islam, so why should we? Saudi Arabia has more than enough assets & air conditioned housing to accommodate the majority of displaced Syrians. They choose not to help their own & reserve it for those who travel to Mecca and PAY for it.

          • Kaitlin Barnett

            February 16, 2017 at 11:01 pm

If said muslim is born in the US with american citizenship how is their country of origin suddenly one of the 7 countries on the ban list?

And based on what you said you admit they can refuse.

Them not taking muslim refugees should tell us something about their resolve to not take anyone they don’t want. We don’t have to either.

What do you do when you come up against muslims that gained citizenship due to working for our government / military or ones that just convert to christianity?

          • reelmerican

            February 18, 2017 at 4:19 am

American citizens with heritage from those 7 countries are exempt, as are green card holders, and visa holders. It’s the mass rush of “refugee” claims that are being vetted, rather than allowed a “quick pass” into the U.S.

Yes, those countries may have the option to refuse, however, there are consequences. Visas, financial aid & other economic factors can put pressure on those governments to comply & work with the U.S. (which is likely in most of their best interest, their other options are Russian & China, you be the judge from their perspective).

As for your last comment, you are grossly misinformed. This is not a ban on Muslims, nor Christians, nor Jews, nor Hindus, this is temporary ban on the flood of those claiming “refugee” status from 7 of the most prevalent countries of origin of terrorism. Also the governments, or lack thereof to control the situations in their countries. They have massive terrorist threats internally or have been identified as having training camps, financial assistance or support of terrorist groups.

These same 7 countries were identified by Barrack Obama several years ago when he implemented a similar ban during his administration. Bill Clinton made a strikingly similar declaration during his presidency to enforce immigration laws & protect the people he was elected to serve.

Facts & reality are better than emotions when looking at these subjects of discussion.

You just lost track of the line of argument as you jumped in when i was replying to iamone99 so i was responding along the orginal parameters he set when he said “deport all muslims” and send them to “one of the 7 on the ban list” regardless of their or their ancestors country of origin.

Would you be so quick to forgive a lie if it came from trump? There are plenty of foreign doctors from many countries, Muslim ones included that can come here during the TEMPORARY ban on a few select countries

      • Zachary

        February 14, 2017 at 9:23 pm

i’m not disagreeing with the notion that improving our immigration standards isn’t something we should be working towards for the sake of national security…but the way people argue for the ban because it was only “temporary” misses the point, imo. I think what’s missed is the fact that this temporary ban, which seemingly made no attempt to take an inventory of the visa pipeline or, say, how the ban might affect residents or greencard holds, caused significant problems that were immediately detrimental to the well being of the USA.

I mentioned above I work in medical education. A letter by the National Resident Matching program says that decisions about where aspiring doctors are placed to continue there studies has a deadline of February 22nd. So, based on the Ban, the entire pipeline of doctors was immediately affected by the ban. not just the people who wanted to come to the US, but the entire medical industry was put at-risk because now they had significantly fewer people to fill much needed roles in hospitals across the united states. Case in point: I was supposed to have a meeting with a sister school of Weil Cornell university, which was canceled because they had to deal with the needs of their 4th years medical students who were “scared and confused” because they weren’t sure if, even having been chosen based on merit, they’d be able to go to the country they put their medical career hopes in. These folks, many from the very countries placed under the ban, have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars individually, collectively millions, to study under American licensing standards so that they might become a doctor practicing american standards of medicine. This is not insignificant…it’s not like these students could just say “oh, well” and apply for residency in, say the UK — the UK accepts students who pass a completely different set of licensing boards…it would, in the best case, take one of those students 2 years to readjust themselves in order to go practice in the UK.

but forget them, for a moment. There are hospitals all over the US, theres a story in south Dakota you should look up, where without doctors from foreign countries…they’d have few to no physicians at all.

to me, it has nothing to do with whether you agree with the fundamentals of the ban…it has everything to do with the sloppy execution…and it’s causing a lot of families, and the US, unintentional harm because of said sloppiness

While I understand your concerns and I am sympathetic to those effected who are well intentioned, good honest people I do feel the need for security in this situation comes first. Unfortunately a law like this (or whatever you want to call it) will always cause disruption for some people but even obama voiced concerns and made note of these countries. My biggest problem with the opposition is painting this as trump being evil but if he did nothing and someone from one of those countries committed a terror attack the news would read “trump never heeded warnings from Obama”. We aren’t all racist, I know many muslims in my community I know and respect. It’s not about that

          • Zachary

            February 14, 2017 at 11:23 pm

I respectfully disagree on a subtly of your argument…national security is honest, and I will respect decisions that put it first IF there was an attempt to mitigate the “disruption” such a ban might cause. I have looked…and I see no evidence that anyone did any research on who or what programs might be affected by the executive order that was signed. I steadfastly believe that the reason the courts struck it down twice has more to do with that than some political agenda.

the executive order was executed with utter disregard for all the ways it would affect, not just people, but the well-being of the United States and the various programs that rely on “legal” immigrants. That’s my problem with this whole thing…we forgot that there are students, doctors, programmers, technicians, etc that we need…forget hurt feelings…we are weaker in many aspects of our way of life because we shut out the wrong people simply because we didn’t take the time to consider them first

          • the FART BREAK Kid

            February 15, 2017 at 12:00 am

I would understand the opposition to the order if it was argued on the same points you just made. I might agree and come to the same conclusion as you but I would understand it more. You may be right that it could have been executed better but I do agree with the essence of the law, that being we have the right to vet those coming in our country more thoroughly. I do feel we had to stop it for a short while to kind of do what you are talking about, making sure we are letting the people like are advocating for to be let in without letting in dangerous people.

That being said we probably won’t change each others minds tonight on this but I respect your opinion and I think we both proved here people with differing views don’t have to be nasty to each other

            February 15, 2017 at 12:03 am

indeed. this is how civic discourse should be conducted. my last point to you is that i was referring mostly to the effect the ban had on people that respected the rule of law and went through all the proper channels to secure citizenship, residency, or the proper visa with which to enter the USA. The executive order seemingly paid no consideration to them…and, with regards to those that DO follow the law, it made the statement that even following the law isn’t everything. that was a bad message to send, in my opinion…regardless of the reasons behind the message itself

You are confusing the subject. Legal immigrants, green card holders & those with proper visas still have the right to come to the U.S. Now how they “felt” is another story, because they were confused for moment. Link up with India & you’ll fill your needs. Great education, high literacy rates & professionals who work. Everyone acts as if the voids can’t and won’t be filled which is BS. Students are a dime a dozen, programmers & techs are the same boat. Show a void in the workforce & it will be filled.

An interruption is not a long term void. I highly doubt that the physicans you are referring to are coming from those 7 countries, as their educational requirements are not as stringent as the those in the U.S. Tell me the last time you saw a Lybian physician in the U.S.?

I’m in med ed. Foreign doctors only go to small towns because that it only way they can stay after training. A solution is require all American medical graduates, as a condition of the privilege of attending medical school, to commit to practice a period of time in personnel shortage area. Sweeten the mandate with loan forgiveness per year of service.

it isn’t the only reason they go, though it is a big reason. As for your opinions about how to fix the system to incentivize more us born doctors, that’s all well and good, but it wont change anything over night and rural communities will still feel the shortages
