The Green Dragon Tavern is fighting back against hysteria that lead to a targeted harassment campaign labeling the pub “Nazis.”
The Boston bar, a stone’s throw away from Fanuiel Hall, has nothing to do with so-called “Neo-Nazis” or any other “hate group.” However, the owners, Noelle and Sean Somers, say their establishment is being blasted on social media.
“We have never and will never tolerate hate, and for it to be portrayed that we do is just disgusting,” Noelle said at a press conference on Friday. “It’s been a very painful week to me — getting this onslaught of emails and calling us Nazis.”
The onslaught began when Marxist agitators say they stalked the group of law-abiding citizens from a local protest to the bar. Friday night the campaigners held an uneventful rally in front of Green Dragon Tavern.
Yelp, Facebook, and Google are being used to spread the delirium, according to the Somers. This type of gas lighting has become a favorite tactic of college progressives when the delusion of Nazi-panic pops into their minds, facts be damned.
“Stay Away This Bar serves Nazis. I was there and a group of about 20 idiots openly wearing swastikas and other white supremacist symbols walked in. They were purposely intimidating other patrons,” says one reviewer, describing an event that did not happen according to surveillance footage.
Another raves “This bar knowingly served Neo-Nazis, which put other customers in danger. I don’t know what the management was thinking.”
The owners fired back by showing the press a two-hour surveillance camera video of a group of patrons relaxing with a nice meal.
Noelle assured the media, “If there is any racist propaganda put out or doing a Nazi salute or someone saying something racially, in any way shape or form to another person, they will not be allowed in.”
The group in question was also witnessed by a local tour guide who was eating very close to the other costumers. He assured WBZ-TV, nothing remotely resembling a disturbance occurred. “People came in, sat to my right I believe, and ate their meal and left,” the tour guide said.
One of the hysterical leftwing organizers told reporters, “a hate group is a hate group, even if that hate group wasn’t behaving badly at the time…you are not welcome because your ideology is wanting to harm our community.”
No word on if the leaders of the “love group” protesting have ever spent any money at the bar, despite such self-appointed hall monitors wishing to decide who can be served there.
The current version of the Green Dragon has been in business for 25 years, and the Somers say they have never dealt with this level of insanity. They now have more than 125 negative social media reviews they must lobby to have removed.
The thuggish behavior has not endeared the bar owners to the new left, with Sean pointing out “These bullies are going to come along, slander their businesses and the social media networks and accounts are not held accountable, it’s like the wild west.”
The original Green Dragon is a piece of American history. Its doors first opened in 1743, and was the place the Boston Tea Party was planned. Paul Revere’s ride also started at the Green Dragon. Its nickname was “the Headquarters of the Revolution” for being the watering hole for many founding fathers and planning ground for the establishment of the new country.
