MS-13 Gang Member With Nickname ‘Animal’ Gets 40 Years in Prison

Joel Martinez, 23, who goes by the nickname “Animal” confessed to murdering a 15-year-old boy as part of his initiation into the MS-13 gang.

The U.S. attorney’s office in Massachusetts said Tuesday Martinez had been sentenced to 40 years in prison for a conspiracy that included the murder.

“I stabbed the culero three times,” Martinez said, using a derogatory slang MS-13 members use for rival gang members.

Prosecutors highlighted the ‘Animal’ nickname in the headline of a press release, seemingly in a nod to statements President Trump made last week during a roundtable discussion on sanctuary cities. During that discussion the President specifically referred to members of the violent, illegal-immigrant MS-13 gang as “animals.”

Democrats, pro-immigration groups, and the media intentionally and falsely reported the President’s “animals” comment either referred to all immigrants, or all illegal immigrants. Others then went on to defend the gang, suggesting the president was “de-humanizing” them.

MS-13’s brutally and grisly level of violence is well-documented and well-known to law enforcement. The FBI affidavit accompanying the case against Martinez recounts shootings, stabbings, and beatings both internally and used to target outsiders.
