As rap megastar Kanye West continued to break the Internet with his professed love of President Trump this week, verified lefties on Twitter and the mainstream media descended into frothing madness Wednesday.
Meanwhile, an emergency summit of gender studies professors gathered to discuss plans for a safe space colony on the moon.
Baffled progressives, verklempt that an entertainment icon had the nerve to reject the Democrat party line, watched as West launched several pro-Trump tweets, even criticizing President Obama by pointing out that “Obama was in office for eight years and nothing in Chicago changed.”
By Wednesday evening, “Kanye” was the top trending topic on Twitter.
The Internet became such a hell-scape of progressive rage at West, that Chance the Rapper had to actually step in to explain “Black people don’t have to be democrats,” in a tweet which only added to the controversy.
Event though West has been a long time supporter of the president, even meeting with Trump last year to talk about the violence in Chicago, the musician placed a target on his back last week by simply tweeting “I love the way Candace Owens thinks,” in an endorsement of the young black republican female commentator. On Sunday evening, conservative street artists smelled liberal blood in the water and capitalized by putting “Kayne 2024” posters all over major cities with the slogan “Keep America Great.”
Wednesday, the world famous rapper tweeted pictures of his “Make America Great Again” hat and sent progressives into full tailspin.
He even got the hat signed.
my MAGA hat is signed ??????????????????????????????
The Washington Post even published a headline reading “Kanye West, Alt-Right Darling.”
Occasionally known to overreact, just occasionally, the anti-Trump crowd took a cue from the media to express concern over West having “mental issues” for speaking against the Democrats.
In political jargon, it appeared to be a tactic known as gas-lighting, popularized in totalitarian regimes to label political dissenters “mentally ill” or “crazy,” or malign them with a repulsive label like “Nazi” in order to halt further debate and dismiss those who disagreed with the official party line.
It got so bad, West’s wife, Kim Kardashian West, and Chance the Rapper both took to Twitter to defend West against the mainstream media’s gaslighting attempts.
Talked to him two days ago. He’s in a great space and not affected by folk tryna question his mental or physical health. Same Ye from the Vmas, same Ye from the telethon. https://t.co/2zY3KpllV2
Another dump truck of crazy arrived when conspiracy theorists dragged out a long-debunked myth that making the common “Ok” hand gesture, an emoji West sometimes uses, was secret code for “white power.” TMZ even felt compelled to dispel concern that West, a man so black he’s nailing a Kardashian, was now somehow a white supremacist.
Perhaps the strangest tactic of all was sources, like the Mirror, reporting that Kayne West’s follower count had dropped by over 9 million in a day due to his Trump fandom. DANGEROUS researchers confirmed that as recently as Monday morning, Twitter reported West had 15 million followers and now sits at 28 million (as of press time), although the wide fluctuation may be due to database sharding in Twitter’s infrastructure, which is reported to happen whenever a single account receives massive attention. In a statement to The Verge, a Twitter spokesperson said there had been little to no change in West’s follower count.
The biggest support West received was from a man who shares his “Dragon Energy,” the President himself, responding, “Thank you, Kanye. Very Cool!”
Without further ado, enjoy some of the day’s most scrumptious liberal tears:
@SheaSerrano what are we gonna do about Kanye man he’s stressing me out
Kanye done turned into an attention whore just like the cardashans.
People like Kanye make me scared to try to get rich
Kanye West’s recent actions have shown, in a clear and unambiguous fashion, that he doesn’t care about black people: https://t.co/oR5vwZT2gu
All I can say is that I never liked Kanye in the first place ? #ThursdayThoughts
Kanye west is the biggest piece of shit on earth. Quote me.
Let’s stop talking about Kanye West. It’s not as if he mattered or was relevant before.
Are we sure Kanye is in his body? #freakyfriday
Twitter was way better when Kanye West’s account was deactivated. https://t.co/nC3R4zRBzt
@RogueSNRadvisor @kanyewest Dudes bipolar and has mental health issues. Up until this moment he’s been irrelevant.
Let me explain why milk is racist:
If you’re looking at Kanye’s tweets and wondering what exactly that “ok ?” hand symbol means to the far right, here’s an explainer: https://t.co/04L0i90qjN
@ThePerezHilton @kanyewest I accept he has mental health problems, but mental health illnesses are not an excuse to just do and say what you want. I cannot stand the Karkrashians or Kanye West. He would have a mental health plan in place and his family need to intervene.
Family was imprisoned by Democrats in Japanese internment camps during World War II:
No one would bat an eye if an entertainer said they’d have voted for George Bush. Vocal support for Trump, by contrast, stirs backlash because he has attacked our communities, our institutions, and our values. We are not in ordinary times. They demand we all take a clearer stand.
His music sounds totally different now.
Fake black man to real black man:
Unfollowed Kanye West *so far*… Ariana Grande BTS Drake Harry Styles Jaden Smith Janelle Monáe Justin Bieber Katy Perry Kendrick Lamar Lana del Rey Nicki Minaj Rihanna The Weekend Troye Sivan Zayn Malik
Free thinking means coming to conclusions I agree with:
It’s great to be a free thinker but that alone ain’t the point. If you’re freely thinking your way into dumb conclusions then color me not impressed.
Just shut up and get back in the bread line:
Kanye. Please. Stop. Talking. ?
