If you logged on to Twitter today you might not have noticed anything strange, but as it so happens—Twitter is sort of down and some posts just aren’t showing up as they normally should.
As users began to post earlier today, they found that their usual interactions were missing. Influencers with tens (and hundreds) of thousands of followers were the first to notice the discrepancy in their numbers when they found, to their dismay, that tweets that would’ve normally garnered good interaction appeared to be getting deleted off their own timelines or retweeted by only a handful of their followers.
InfoWars host Paul Joseph Watson was the first to point out the issue earlier today.
Is Twitter acting weird for anyone else? It’s deleting my tweets and I’m getting hardly any retweets whereas normally I get dozens within minutes.
His observations were echoed by popular conservative accounts Based Monitored and OrwellNGoode, who pointed out the possibility that their timelines could have been targeted by a “shadow ban” from Twitter—deliberately throttled, in other words.

@BasedMonitored and I think we’re having our reach throttled. Please like this tweet if you saw it on your timeline or didn’t have to go directly to my account to see it.
It remains to be seen whether this is actually the case, but as The Independent’s Andrew Griffin points out, the problems only seem to be affecting Twitter’s main website and its mobile apps, but not Tweetdeck.
For now, the only way to view certain Twitter accounts is to head directly to their Twitter timelines—as nothing they tweet will show up on yours.
