Scottish Man Arrested In Dubai For Touching A Man’s Hip

A 27-year old Brit is facing up to 3-years in jail in Dubai for putting his hands on a man in a bar.

A Scottish man on holiday in Dubai is being held in there for putting his hand on a man. Jamie Harron said he had been holding a drink, moving through a crowded bar, and held a hand in front of him to avoid spilling it on himself or others. He then accidentally touched a man on his hip.

Harron was reportedly arrested for public indecency and drinking alcohol after the incident. Harron, who works as an electrician in Afghanistan, was on a two-day stopover in the United Arab Emirates in July. Since the incident, Harron has lost his job and spent more than £30,000 in expenses and legal fees.

A campaign group called Detained in Dubai is currently trying to help Harron.

“This is another example of how vulnerable tourists are to arrest and detention in Dubai and at how drawn-out and disorganised legal proceedings are,” said Radha Stirling, chief executive of Detained in Dubai.

According to the organisation, the man only became aggravated about the touch after Harron and his friend sat down at the table.

The police were soon called and arrested Harron. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office said it was providing consular assistance on the matter.

Harron was locked up for five days in Al Barsha prison. He has since been released on bail and had his passport confiscated.

Stirling said: “He was expecting to appear in court this Sunday, but the court moved the date without telling him or his lawyer.

“This led to a sentence of 30 days’ imprisonment for failing to present himself at the hearing.”

A Foreign and Commonwealth Office spokesman said: “We have been in contact with a British man following his arrest in Dubai in July. We are providing consular assistance.”

Brits haven’t had much luck in Dubai recently. In 2016, an Edinburgh man named William Barclay was detained after attempting to exchange a fake £20 note. He finally returned home last week.

I will never understand why people insist on going to these backwards countries. They see the shimmery lights and money but refuse to believe the dirty secrets within.

BEt the guy whose hip he touched was a muslim. Under Islamic law, all nonbelivers are under a suspended death penalty simply for not being a muslim.

Sharia is a virus in the civilized world of law. It is a savage legal system based on a religion. Better to clip it in the bud than let it spread. When religion is the law of the land and rules a society, oppression is always the result, no matter the religion.

Why do democrats support the middle east when they imprison and kill people that practice a liberal’s belief?

Because they admire the totalitarian control that exists in those countries, something they would like to implement here to forcefully push their “progressive” agenda.
