Las Vegas Shooter May Have Been ‘Radicalized’

Clark County Sheriff Joseph Lombardo responded to questions of whether the Las Vegas shooter Stephen Paddock was radicalized in a press conference on Tuesday.

“I want to understand the motivation that you described, okay, to prevent any future incidents, and, you know, did this person get radicalized unbeknownst to us?” Lombardo said while speaking to reporters. “And we want to identify that source.”

Although federal authorities have stated there is no evidence to suggest Paddock was related to any terror organization, the Islamic State has repeatedly claimed responsibility for the massacre that killed more than 50 people and left more than 500 injured.

In May, ISIS released a “video that calls for lone-wolf attacks,” that featured prominent Strip properties.

ISIS not only took responsibility for the attack, it also doubled down by giving Paddock an Arabic name.

Paddock had wired $100,000 to an account in the Philippines just one week before he committed the deadliest mass shooting in modern US history.

Paddock’s Indonesian Muslim girlfriend, 62-year-old Marilou Danley, was reported to have been “sent to” the Philippines by the shooter roughly a week before the attack took place.

“We have had conversations with her and we believe her, at this time, not to be involved. But obviously, that investigation will continue,” Lombardo said before she was named, once again, as a person of interest. “She was not with [Paddock] when he checked in. We have discovered he was utilizing some of her identification.”

According to officials, Danley, arrived in the United States from the Philippines late Tuesday night where she was met by federal agents although she was not under arrest.

The New York Times reports Danley disappeared from her job at a casino where she regularly hosted Paddock.

“I asked some fellow workers and they said she went off with Stephen,” said John Weinreich, an executive casino host at the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa at the time.

Danley divorced her husband in 2015. On the divorce papers, she listed her residence as a condominium in Reno owned by Mr. Paddock.

Susan Page, a retired financial analyst who was Paddock and Danley’s next-door neighbor, said the couple was not sociable.

“I thought maybe he was sick or something because they were always in the house and the shades were always drawn shut,” Page said.

Other neighbors said Paddock had a large safe in his garage which could be seen when he was working on an old utility vehicle believed to be Danley’s car.

“They weren’t outgoing,” Page explained. “They didn’t participate in anything. Everybody around here, they go over to each other’s houses, they have a drink and they chitchat.”

“It wasn’t that they were unfriendly, they just didn’t socialize,” she added.

“She was probably one of the only people I’ve ever seen that he’d go out of his way to do a little thing for,” said the shooters brother, Eric Paddock while referring to Danley. “He went out of his way to be nice to her. This is not something Steve does — go out of his way.”

“Steve expected people to wait on him for the most part. But he waited on her sometimes. He would do what she wanted to do. He would defer to her in the way that he wouldn’t to the rest of humanity,” he added. “Even me.”

President Trump has signaled that federal authorities are learning more about the motives of Paddock every day.

“They’re learning a lot more,” the President said as he was leaving the White House to visit the victims and first responders of the shooting. “And that’ll be announced at the appropriate time.”

“It’s a very sad thing. We’re going to pay our respects and to see the police who have done really a fantastic job in a very short time,” he added. “It’s a very, very sad day for me, personally.”

I don’t think ISIS had anything to do with it, but they want the credit for it. There is a video on how to do a truck attack in Chicago. Maybe they want to take credit so it’ll bring out a lone wolf that will work for them or just maybe that want to remind us they are out there and add some terror to a horrific thing that happened in Las Vegas. “ISIS not only took responsibility for the attack, it also doubled down by giving Paddock an Arabic name.” guess if you want to make sure people think they were behind it, they would make up a name for him; that wouldn’t take much thinking to do that.

Paddock’s dad was diagnosed as psychopath who had suicidal tendencies, which is probably what happened with Paddock, who lived in Reno, and the insane monster decided to commit suicide, go to Las Vegas where there was going to be a concert with a large crowd, kill as many as he could and then commit suicide. His sick mind probably thought he would always be remembered for what he did, but couldn’t grasp the fact that he would be remembered as the insane monster he was.
