Video: “Trump Assassination” Play Interrupted, Again

For the second time this weekend, conservative protesters appear to have interrupted a performance of The Public Theater’s ‘Julius Caesar,’ a play that has drawn criticism for its featuring of a President Trump-lookalike being assassinated.

According to Cassandra Fairbanks, writing for Big League Politics, tonight’s performance was The Public Theater’s final display of ‘Julius Caesar.’

Fairbanks reports that a first protester, whom she calls “Proud Boy Jovi Val” stormed the stage screaming, “liberal hate kills.”

Fairbanks subsequently updated her article to report that “a second protester disrupted the production by screaming, ‘we’re sick of your bullsh*t’ during the assassination scene.”

She provides the following tweet from a witness.

Tonight’s interruption of the play comes following Friday’s incident during which Rebel Media reporter Laura Loomer and independent journalist Jack Posobiec chastised actors and attendees of the play for its depiction of violence against “Trump.”

As reported previously, The Public Theater’s ‘Julius Caesar’ production has been highly contentious, with both Delta Air Lines and Bank of America pulling sponsorship of The Public Theater over it.

The New York Times and CNN parent company Time Warner did not pull support of The Public Theater.

The Times cited its desire to uphold “free speech for the arts as well as the media” while Time Warner CEO stated, “if you think about the play itself, about Julius Caesar – the killing of Caesar itself raises very important points about how that did not work out well, nor did it accomplish the ends of those senators who did kill Caesar.”

Regressives are not hippies, they’re basically violent thugs. Hippies were too stoned to riot.

Hippies were social justice done right, with less drugs depending on ones individual preferences. What we have right now is the Hitler Youth League format shifted from a dedication to the master race to a dedication to social justice. The Universities of this nation have become indoctrination camps. For anyone who thinks I’m exaggerating in my comparison, ask yourself, if it were made against the law to say something that violated the 28th amendment also known as the Social Justice Compact, and a parent of a socially conscious college student violated that law, would they turn them in?

Despite losing sponsors, having protestors halt the production of their hate-filled play, and receiving reams of negative publicity in light of the GOP baseball just KNOW there will be no introspection, no second thoughts, no wondering if they got it wrong or if (just maybe) they went too far. What must it be like to live in a world so bitter and filled with hate? Sad.

They shouldn’t be running on the stage they should do it from their seat in the audience, it is more effective because it takes more time for security to remove them and it would be more disruptive. Also they can’t be charged for trespassing the stage.

My first degree is in acting and my first love is Shakespeare. I find it extremely frustrating when his text is used to pander to some sort of cause or is put in another time period or setting just to make things “interesting.” Most often it does his text a great injustice, like this debacle. Fom a historical perspective Trump and Caesar are nothing alike. Caesar was extremely calculating, his military strategem really unparalled, and for the most part extremely magnanimous compared to other rulers of his day. Trump’s twitter feed is a loose cannon. He is smart enough to deligate to advisors that sometimes prove to be smarter, but the comparison is far-fetched at best. This does nothing but paint either Trump as pure villian or Caesar as pure villian which does neither of them justice and is soooo one dimensional.

Of course, the illiberal Left has no problem desecrating Shakespeare, after all he was a white male. But you miss the point of you think this production or the audience watching it has ANYTHING to do w/Shakespearean theater. The entire point is to engage in mutual masterbation while watching Trump get assassinated.

DO HOPE that NO ONE begins calling in bomb threats after the play
begins every night; and I PRAY that NO ONE goes in and leaves a backpack
full of books or papers, and then has a friend tell security that there
is an unattended backpack in the crowd! That would be awful as it would
interrupt the play and would not be nice! We must be nicer than the bad people.

If they put on another play like this some place else take a page from Saul Alinsky and use it.
Buy as many tickets as you can get and if it’s not festival seating try to get them all center stage. Then find the most purposely country people you can (think Duck Dynasty style.) Several hours before the play assemble your crew and have a big ole southern style BBQ, and party. Beer, Baked Beans, BBQ, and all the fixings specifically anything that makes the folks gassy. Then dress up in your best country duds something Field and Stream approved with perhaps a smattering of NRA logos and such.

Then go sit and watch the play. Don’t get up, don’t get verbal or nasty with anyone but sit there and pick your nose, scratch your self, and in the words of Benjamin Franklin, “Fart Proudly.” Amuse your self with just how much gas you can pass, and who stinks the worst, and who can get one off in a quiet moment. Laugh as those around you have to deal with the stink. They can’t do anything if you’re not really verbally shouting at them or storming the stage. Hey it’s a bodily function.

I agree with Time Warner’s statement about the points the original play raises. One thing I have always loved about Shakespeare is the deeper, less apparent layers of meaning he wrote in to his plays. Unfortunately in this instance, the liberal hipsters and SJW’s who love this version of Julius Caesar only loved it because of the shallpw insinuation of Caesar as President Trump. They derived no deeper meanings, because of the positive emotion they experienced watching President Trump being stabbed to death. And therefore, I dont believe that interrupting the play with protests served any purpose, other than to make Conservatives look as foolish as the other side. You cannot reason with the unreasonable, and they arent going to have a sudden epiphany that you are using their foolish tactics against them.

Beware the Ides of June (I saw this play in Central Park)

In a June 13 article in the NY Times, Director Oskar Eustis described his “progressive” vision in staging his version of Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar by re-creating this “anxiety nightmare parable about our current state.” After railing at the Newspaper of Record, Mr. Eustis let loose about a “right wing hate machine” and dismissed complainers as people who “haven’t read Julius Caesar” and who were “being manipulated by Fox.” Take that, you knuckle-dragging Deplorables!

Curious, I attended Central Park’s “Orange Julius” performance and found that the widely reported staging of a bloody assassination of Trump was only the tip of the iceberg. Trump/Caesar was not the only assassination perpetrated at Delacorte. Sadly, Shakespeare himself was carved not “like a dish fit for the Gods” but violently butchered by Mr. Eustis in his myopic pursuit of his obsessions. Even as a parody, Central Park did not rise to the level of a tired SNL skit. But it was exactly what fellow travelers wanted to partake in, a ritual Eucharist devoted to all their paranoia. And it all started before the show even began…

You didn’t need Soothsayers to warn you the Bard would take a distant back seat at the Delacorte Theater. All you had to do was read all the stickies on the audience graffiti wall (two huge panels titled “I Hope For…” and “I Mourn For…”) on which audience members were encouraged to confess things like “I can’t talk to my family because of Trump.” This Protest Wall also included a poster of a model wearing a hijab fashioned from an American flag (never mind that Muhammad raped a 9-year-old and that Islamic Female Genital Mutilation is alive and well in America).

And all the reverently lowered heads of Manhattan West-Siders were a sight to behold. Showing an abysmal misunderstanding of Shakespeare, simple-minded fliers for this performance preened about a “small band of patriots, devoted to a country’s democratic traditions” – implying the small band of Mr. Eustis and his co-conspirators were the only true “patriots.”

Then came the performance. Clearly Mr. Eustis needed to scare the Bejeezus out of the Fellow Believers. He improved the Bard’s text to read: “If Caesar had stabbed their mothers on Fifth Avenue …”, playing to a somewhat nervous snickering laughter. More serious was when Mark Anthony (ludicrously played by a female – “Here comes Mark Anthony… let’s listen to what she says.”) started rounding up the Resisters and graphically executed five or six of them via firing squad. Imagine the delicious squirming of the audience of Believers – yes, o yes, this is what Trump wants to do to us! Can Oskar Eustis save us?

There was never any doubt about whom the People (posters exclaimed “Resist!”) represented. Dressed in black Antica-Like costumes, Brutus’s supporters (minorities – women and blacks) chanted things like “We are the People – United!.. We’ll Never Be Defeated!” and “No Justice, No Peace!”.

Sniggers replaced parody and many of Mr. Eustis’s tired comic shticks fell lame. Melania/Calpurnia wore a heavy-handed Slavic accent, often slapping her husband’s hand away. And overplaying Trump/Caesar as a boorish, bungling oaf made complete nonsense of Mark Anthony’s funeral oration and his heartfelt sorrow for the “noble Caesar.” This was the first production I saw where the line “If you have tears, prepare to shed them now” was greeted with laughter…

In the Left’s bubble, SNL weekly mocks Trump and the news, and cable news returns the favor by showing SNL clips. No wonder that bowdlerizing Shakespeare himself is now fair game for the Progressives. Everything in the Progressive’s universe must be filtered to concentrate the toxic fumes of hate.

No, directors are not welcome to diminish Shakespeare and cultural vandals like Mr. Eustis should never be allowed to squander tax payer money to turn our precious heritage into garbage. Ironically, director Oskar Eustis now demurely states “I thought there might be some fuss. I did not see this” . . . because all he did was “make some fun of our president.” Really?

The yelled out comment was the best. The actors will be in a high state of nerves, waiting for the other shoe to drop and the audience, too. None of them can fully enjoy the murder porn on stage.

Can’t they at least dress up like Secret Service agents and dive in front of the fake President during the assassination scene? Just scream “MR. PRESIDENT, GET DOWN!” and shove the actor off stage, then improvise a touching death monologue about how it was an honor to give your life for such a great leader.
