Reza Aslan has lost his gig as a presenter at CNN following a Twitter rant in which he described President Donald Trump as “a piece of shit” and an embarrassment to America.
According to Deadline Hollywood, the media giant stated “CNN has decided not to move forward with production on the acquired series Believer with Reza Aslan. We wish Reza and his production team all the best.”
Aslan has in turn published a statement on Twitter describing himself as “very disappointed in this decision.”
“Believer means a great deal to me and to the countless viewers it’s reached. Its message of religious tolerance and exploration is extremely important right now,” he continued, adding that “in these politically charged times, the tenor of our nation’s discourse has become complication, and I recognize that CNN needs to protect its brand as an unbiased news source.”

Aslan made his “piece of shit” remarks about Trump following the President’s tweet about reinstating America’s travel ban in light of Saturday’s terror attack in London.
According to Mediaite, Aslan subsequently deleted the tweet and apologized.
Still, calls for his firing, like the one from the Media Research Center below, continued.

Aslan previously came under fire for a segment in which he ate a piece of a human brain while hanging out with a fringe Hindu sect.
As Fox News reports, that segment in question drew the ire of mainstream Hindus who thought it was “a misrepresentation of Hinduism.”
“He later apologized on Facebook saying at the time he made it clear on the show that the Aghoris are an ‘extreme Hindu sect’ and ‘are not representative of Hinduism.'”
