Nearly A Quarter Of Young Women Don’t Shave Their Underarms

Research conducted by Mintel shows that there has been a decline in Millenial women shaving both their armpits and their legs.

95 percent of women between the ages of 16 to 24, said they removed their underarm hair in 2013. That figure has dramatically dropped to 77 percent in 2016.

In 2013, 92 percent of women in the same age range said they removed their leg hair, which has fallen to 85 percent in 2016.

According to the associate director in personal and beauty care at Mintel, Roshida Khanom, women are trying to take better care of their skin.

“Clean eating is behind some of those changes. They’re worried about causing irritation from their skin because of these products,” Mintel said.

“We can also see that they’re doing other things instead – so 29 percent say they’re adding steps to their skincare routine.”

Adding that “There’s also some pushing back against societal expectations of what women should look like,”

It seems the feminist movement has something to do with this new trend.

Armpits4August, which was created in 2012 to gather money for charity by not shaving, writes on its website that “By growing our body hair we are working towards having pride in our body hair, not shame.”

It seems that this has, for some women, carried on all year round.

Celebrities also seem to be taking part in the trend.

According to a Gallup poll in 2015, 64% of 18 to 29-year-olds are single.

This might just be a coincidence.

I’m trying to figure out what’s nastier, madonnas armpit hair, or her desperately trying to look 20 again with makeup caked into her wrinkles.
For Christ sake Madonna, just age gracefully!

She’s always been disgusting, but seems to be turning it up several notches with her refusal to grow up, not just old. Like Cher.

The worst part is that some thirsty betas will gladly put up with this because it’s the best they can get.

So true. It’s amazing what nonsense some guys will put up with bc they are afraid that standing up to their wife/girlfriend will result in them being dumped. I know several guys who are married to these feminist types. They have all adopted their wives politics since Trump won the election. It’s pathetic

It’s just too awful to let it go for long.

Yeah, I’m a male also who shaves his pits. I do it because it’s basically the number 1 guaranteed way to never get Body Odor. I go to the gym (hence lots of sweating), and can’t use some types of deodorant (something to do with my skin type), so just use roll-on types and find shaving the pits prevents BO by 99.9% basically, hence problem solved. Otherwise much more effort would be involved. I’m a lazy guy so just find it easier to shave. Going to the gym lots with hairy pits is just a pain. BO basically accumulates in the hair over-time so would require constant maintenance, even shampooing and conditioning etc.

and its uncomfortable. I mean I get why some chicks slack off in the winter months but in the summer months it is SO massively uncomfortable you cant let it go too long.

I stopped shaving about a decade ago. Not because I want to let my hair grow out but because as I got older I stopped growing hair in those places.

me too!! also, I have been waxing since I was 19 so any hair follicles that I had are damaged. It was worth the bi-monthly waxing appointments to not have to shave any longer. Could never understand why anyone would shave every day when a good wax every couple of months is much more efficient.

When men are asked why they are not getting married the response is that women are not women anymore.

    This is part of that.

Plastic surgery, Botox injections, hair dye, hair extensions, breast enlargements/reductions, fake eye-lashes, layer after layer of make-up, and all a woman wants is a real man!?

Madonna has performed the many procedures to cover up the natural aging in her face. Make up, hair dye, Botox etc. However she promotes the natural hair growth in her arm pits. How ironic. Also, I think she has dyed the hair under her arm. Once again, how ironic.

she’s a shallow shock monger. All she does is to shock ppl. Its so boring now that if she really wants to shock everyone she’d have to grow a set of morals and started to act decent. That would shock the sh*t out of me.

The only problem I have with not shaving armpit hair, is men or women (doesn’t matter) don’t realize that the hair holds the bacteria that causes the odor. So if you’re showering everyday, no worries but if you don’t, your body odor will be much more noticable when you dont shave.

They’re just trying to be trendy. There’s always a portion of a generation that does a massively retarded thing just to seem like individuals. The problem with women, is where stupid young men will grow up and admit they were little tards women wont, because women “can’t ever be wrong” So while they’re walking around all hairy thinking they’re being edgy and new (not realizing they tried this crap in the 90s which is a decade we NEVER need to relive) the rest of us are laughing at their stupidity.

So I’ve been happily married for 18 years and my husband has never had a bad word to say about my lack of shaving. I never could, no matter what razor and what foam, it ALWAYS causes a rash. When I was in school I would have to wear jeans to cover the rashes I got, which was really painful.. So I just stopped, and to be perfectly honest, Society has never had a word to say about it, it’s just these little opinion piece articles that seem to call it a sin. Don’t save, do shave, no one really cares. Those women aren’t single because of their body hair, they’re single because young women are self centered, shallow and petty these days, and men are sick of putting up with crap. Correlation is not causation.

Not to mention that up through the 1950s (in the US at least), shaving was not mainstream for most women. My raised-in-America grandmother was extremely feminine, very much a product of the time in which she was raised, and she did not regularly shave her legs or armpits. She wasn’t very hairy, but it wasn’t a huge deal. Her mother, a hardworking farmer in the mid-west, did not shave either — no time for such frivolities, haha. My Fryslân-raised grandmother (also a hardworking farm wife) did not shave either, and there was nothing political about it.

Half the time I don’t shave either — due to rashes such as yourself, or lack of time, or the fact that my femininity or womanhood does not reside in how I choose to manipulate natural hairgrowth patterns. Nothing political about it, just practicality. Husband doesn’t care either way, and he is not a “beta” or a “cuck”.

I feel bad for the beta males. You are already stuck with the body positive women, and now they come with extra hair. At least, I hope they still use lube on the strap-ons they sodomize you with.

While I’m technically within the age range of the millenial (barely), I do not self-identify as one. I would like to say that I started waxing my legs in regularly in 2013 to get rid of the German hair curse passed down to me and I have always regularly shave my armpits. Body hair on women is a product of sin not something for celebration. And don’t get me started on pubes…

Other polls routinely show that about 25% of Americans identify as liberal, while other polls – make of it what you will – show that about the same number of Americans have some kind of diagnosed mental illness. So not surprised that this magic number has popped up again.

You know Madonna had to have died her under arm hair – she’s quite post-menopausal.
